Darbepoetin alfa injection is used to treat anemia (a lower than normal number of red blood cells) in people with chronic kidney failure (condition in which the kidneys slowly and permanently stop working over a period of time). Darbepoetin alfa injection is also used to treat anemia caused by chemotherapy in people with certain types of cancer. Darbepoetin alfa cannot be used in place of a red blood cell transfusion to treat severe anemia and has not been shown to improve tiredness or poor well-being that may be caused by anemia. Darbepoetin alfa is in a class of medications called erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs). It works by causing the bone marrow (soft tissue inside the bones where blood is made) to make more red blood cells.

Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj belongs to the class of medication called 'blood-forming agent'  primarily used to treat anaemia (low red blood cell count) in person with long-term serious (chronic) kidney disease and persons receiving chemotherapy for some types of cancer (except for bone marrow or blood cells' cancer). Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj helps to reverse anaemia and reduce the need for blood transfusion. Anaemia occurs when the body has a lower amount of red blood cells or haemoglobin. In chronic kidney disease, the kidney gets damaged and doesn't filter the blood, leading to anaemia.

Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj contains a protein 'Darbepoetin alfa' which works by providing signals to the bone marrow to make more red blood cells. Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj is a biologic response modifier and erythropoiesis-stimulating protein. In chronic kidney disease, when the kidney fails to produce sufficient 'erythropoietin protein' which aids in the formation of red blood cells, Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj stimulates the production of this protein in the bone marrow. 

Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj will be injected by the healthcare provider. Do not self-administer. The most common side effects of Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj are shortness of breath,  cough, low blood pressure during dialysis, headache, body aches, diarrhoea, injection site pain and abdominal pain. Most of these sides effects of Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

If you have uncontrolled/untreated high blood pressure or red cell aplasia (a type of anaemia) due to darbepoetin alfa or epoetin alfa, please inform your doctor before taking Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj to avoid any complications. Also, mention all the other medications you are taking to affect the way Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj works. Inform your doctor immediately, if you feel weak, lightheaded, tired, or short of breath, or if your skin looks pale as it may be signs that the body has stopped responding to Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj. 

Anaemia (in cancer and chronic kidney disease)

Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj is a human-made form of naturally occurring erythropoiesis-stimulating protein or erythropoietin (a hormone produced by the kidney's specialized cells and is responsible for protecting red blood cells against destruction and also stimulates the cells of bone marrow to produce more amount of red blood cells). Deficiency of erythropoietin happens when a person is suffering from chronic kidney diseases, which in turn cause low red blood cells count causing anaemia.  This medicine is primarily indicated for treating anaemia (low red blood cell count) in persons with long-term serious (chronic) kidney disease and persons receiving chemotherapy for some types of cancer except for bone marrow or blood cells' cancer. Daripro-25Mcg/0.42Ml Inj contains a protein 'Darbepoetin alfa' which works by providing signals to the bone marrow to make more red blood cells.

Ferric carboxymaltose injection comes as a solution (liquid) to inject intravenously (into a vein) by a doctor or nurse in a medical office or hospital outpatient clinic. It is usually given as a total of 2 doses, spaced at least 7 days apart. If your iron levels become low after you finish your treatment, your doctor may prescribe this medication again.

Ferric carboxymaltose injection may cause severe or life-threatening reactions during and shortly after you receive the medication. Your doctor will watch you carefully while you receive each dose of ferric carboxymaltose injection and for at least 30 minutes afterwards. Your doctor will also check your blood pressure frequently during this time. Tell your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms during or after your injection: shortness of breath; wheezing; difficulty swallowing or breathing; hoarseness; swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, or eyes; hives; rash; itching; fainting; lightheadedness; dizziness; flushing of the face; nausea; cold, clammy skin; rapid, weak pulse; chest pain; or loss of consciousness. If you experience a severe reaction, your doctor will stop your infusion immediately and provide emergency medical treatment.

• tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to ferric carboxymaltose injection, ferumoxytol (Feraheme), iron dextran (Dexferrum, Infed), iron sucrose (Venofer), or sodium ferric gluconate (Ferrlecit); any other medications, or any of the ingredients in ferric carboxymaltose injection. Ask your pharmacist for a list of the ingredients.
• tell your doctor and pharmacist what other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take. Be sure to mention any of the following: ifosfamide (Ifex), tenofovir (Viread), and valproic acid. Also, tell your doctor if you are taking iron supplements that are taken by mouth. Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you carefully for side effects.
• tell your doctor if you have low blood levels of phosphate or are unable to eat a healthy diet. Also tell your doctor if you have or have ever had a gastrointestinal disorder in which you are unable to absorb certain vitamins, a vitamin D deficiency, high blood pressure, or parathyroid or liver disease.
• tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while receiving ferric carboxymaltose injection, call your doctor. Monitor the breastfed infant for constipation or diarrhea while you are receiving ferric carboxymaltose injection. Call your doctor immediately if the breastfed infant has any of these symptoms.

Ferric carboxymaltose injection is used to treat iron-deficiency anemia (a lower than normal number of red blood cells due to too little iron) in adults who cannot tolerate or who could not successfully be treated with iron supplements taken by mouth. This medication is also used to treat iron deficiency anemia in adults with chronic kidney disease (damage to the kidneys which may worsen over time and may cause the kidneys to stop working) who are not on dialysis. Ferric carboxymaltose injection is in a class of medications called iron replacement products. It works by replenishing iron stores so that the body can make more red blood cells.

Introduction:

Darbilen 200mcg Injection contains the active constituent darbepoetin alfa. It is used to treat anemia. Anemia is a condition in which blood does not contain enough red blood cells. As a result, you may experience weakness, shortness of breath, and fatigue. 

Darbilen 200mcg Injection is used to treat symptomatic anemia associated with kidney failure and chemotherapy (cancer treatment) of non-myeloid malignancies (non-bone marrow cancer). In kidney failure, the kidney fails to produce the natural hormone erythropoietin, which plays a key role in the production of red blood cells. The important side effect associated with chemotherapy is that it stops the bone marrow from producing sufficient blood cells. 

Talk to your doctor if you have seizures, high blood pressure, sickle cell anemia, liver disorders, hepatitis C, allergic conditions, or lack of response to medicines used to treat anemia before taking Darbilen 200mcg Injection. It is contraindicated in patients with uncontrolled blood pressure.

How Darbilen 200mcg Injection works:
